Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) maple syrup
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) minced fresh thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) ground cinnamon
- 2 pounds (900 g) salmon fillets
- kosher salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil, or as needed
Instructions
- Set your oven to a temperature of 450°F (230°C) to preheat.
- In a small mixing bowl, blend together the maple syrup, Dijon mustard, thyme, and cinnamon until the mixture is uniform. Put it aside for later use.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper over the salmon for seasoning. Warm up the vegetable oil in a large oven-safe frying pan over medium heat. Place the salmon in the heated oil and cook until it achieves a golden brown color, roughly 3 minutes. Turn over the salmon and generously coat the top with the maple syrup mixture. Continue cooking until the other side is golden brown, another 3 minutes.
- Move the pan to the oven that you have preheated and allow it to bake until the salmon easily flakes when tested with a fork, approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
Notes
- Season salmon generously with salt and pepper before cooking for enhanced flavor.
- Avoid overcrowding the pan when cooking salmon for even cooking.
- Test salmon doneness by checking if it easily flakes with a fork.
