Ingredients
- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) salt
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) sugar
- 1 large egg
- 3/4 cup (180 ml) milk
- 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) vanilla extract
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) maple syrup
- 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
- 1/2 cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup (100 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) black pepper
- 1/2 cup (75 g) turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients to form a smooth batter. Set aside.
- Season chicken breasts with garlic powder and black pepper.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Cook chicken breasts in the skillet until fully cooked, about 6-7 minutes per side.
- Remove chicken from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Cut the cooked chicken into small cubes.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine maple syrup and heavy cream.
- Stir in Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses until melted and smooth.
- Add the cubed chicken to the cheese sauce and mix well.
- Fold in crumbled turkey bacon and chopped parsley.
- Preheat a waffle iron according to its instructions.
- Grease the waffle iron lightly with oil or cooking spray.
- Pour a small amount of waffle batter into the waffle iron.
- Add a spoonful of the chicken mixture on top of the batter.
- Cover with more waffle batter to enclose the filling.
- Close the waffle iron and cook until golden brown and crisp.
- Repeat the process with the remaining batter and chicken mixture.
- Serve the waffle bombs warm, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
