Ingredients

  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) salt
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) milk
  • 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) vanilla extract
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) maple syrup
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) black pepper
  • 1/2 cup (75 g) turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) chopped fresh parsley


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients to form a smooth batter. Set aside.
  5. Season chicken breasts with garlic powder and black pepper.
  6. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  7. Cook chicken breasts in the skillet until fully cooked, about 6-7 minutes per side.
  8. Remove chicken from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes.
  9. Cut the cooked chicken into small cubes.
  10. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine maple syrup and heavy cream.
  11. Stir in Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses until melted and smooth.
  12. Add the cubed chicken to the cheese sauce and mix well.
  13. Fold in crumbled turkey bacon and chopped parsley.
  14. Preheat a waffle iron according to its instructions.
  15. Grease the waffle iron lightly with oil or cooking spray.
  16. Pour a small amount of waffle batter into the waffle iron.
  17. Add a spoonful of the chicken mixture on top of the batter.
  18. Cover with more waffle batter to enclose the filling.
  19. Close the waffle iron and cook until golden brown and crisp.
  20. Repeat the process with the remaining batter and chicken mixture.
  21. Serve the waffle bombs warm, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
