Ingredients
- 1 pound (454 g) ground beef (450 grams)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic powder (5 grams)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) onion powder (5 grams)
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) smoked paprika (2.5 grams)
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil (15 milliliters)
- 1 cup (240 ml) shredded cheddar cheese (115 grams)
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) barbecue sauce (120 milliliters)
- 1/2 pound (227 g) turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled (225 grams)
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) chopped green onions (25 grams)
- 4 large pita bread rounds
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) sesame seeds (15 grams)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned.
- Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- Add barbecue sauce to the skillet and mix well with the beef.
- Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Stir in shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, and chopped green onions.
- Cut each pita round in half to create pockets.
- Stuff each pita pocket with the beef and cheese mixture.
- Place filled pita pockets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the tops of the pita pockets with beaten egg.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds over the tops of the pita pockets.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
