Description

Delightful lavender buttercream frosting that adds a floral twist to any dessert, perfect for celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1-2 teaspoons ground dried lavender (culinary grade)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3-4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk (room temperature)
  • 1 part pink and violet gel food coloring

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dried lavender: Begin by grinding the dried lavender buds in a zip-top bag using a rolling pin.
  2. Cream the butter: In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the room temperature unsalted butter on medium speed for about one minute until creamy.
  3. Add lavender and vanilla: Incorporate 1 teaspoon of ground dried lavender and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and continue mixing until smooth.
  4. Add powdered sugar and milk: Gradually mix in 3 ½ cups of powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk, starting on low speed to avoid a mess, then increase speed and beat until light and fluffy.
  5. Adjust as needed: Taste the frosting and add powdered sugar or milk to achieve desired consistency and flavor.
  6. Color the frosting: Add pink and violet gel food coloring using a toothpick for small amounts, mixing until evenly distributed.
  7. Use or store: Use immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Notes

Use culinary-grade lavender for safety and best results. Adjust sugar and milk to achieve desired consistency.
