Description

Deliciously spicy jalapeño turkey burgers infused with sharp cheddar cheese and crispy bacon for an unforgettable summer barbecue delight.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey thigh meat (7% fat)
  • 2 jalapeños (finely chopped)
  • ½ cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices streaky bacon
  • 1 teaspoon jalapeño hot sauce (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 4 brioche burger buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 tablespoons chipotle mayo
  • 1 jalapeño (sliced)
  • 1 large avocado (smashed)
  • 1 cup pink pickled onions


Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat while preparing your turkey burger mixture.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, chopped jalapeños, grated cheddar cheese, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Incorporate the jalapeño hot sauce if desired.
  3. Mix until all ingredients are well combined, then divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a burger patty.
  4. Cook the bacon slices until crispy in a skillet. Remove and drain on paper towels, keeping the drippings in the skillet.
  5. In the same skillet, add the turkey patties and cook for about 6-7 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C). In the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of cheddar cheese.
  6. While the burgers cook, toast the brioche buns in the skillet to absorb the flavors.
  7. Assemble the burgers by spreading chipotle mayo on the bun halves, placing the turkey patty on the bottom bun, then stacking crispy bacon, sliced jalapeños, smashed avocado, and pink pickled onions.
  8. Top with the other half of the bun and enjoy!
