Description

Deliciously soft and cheesy jalapeño cheddar bread, perfect for gatherings and special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup bread flour
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1-2 jalapeños, diced

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, bread flour, salt, and sugar.
  2. Pour in the sourdough starter and water, mixing until combined.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced jalapeños.
  4. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 4-6 hours or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  8. Let it rise for another hour.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Let cool before slicing and enjoy!

Notes

For added heat, use spicier jalapeño varieties. Toasting the cheddar beforehand enhances flavor.
