Ingredients

  • 8 lb (816 g) s chicken wings 20 pieces wingettes and drumettes
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) olive oil light
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon pepper seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) paprika
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) sea salt
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) honey
  • 2 tablespoon (30 ml) hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) butter
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic minced, can be subbed with 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoon (30 ml) lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) black pepper freshly ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) chilli flakes optional , for extra-hot wings

Instructions

  1. Ensure the wings are completely dry. If there’s any moisture from washing, use paper towels to pat them dry before adding any seasoning.
  2. Pour olive oil over the chicken wings, ensuring they are fully covered. Alternatively, use an olive oil spray to coat them.
  3. Combine the dry rub ingredients in a bowl. Evenly distribute the rub on the chicken, ensuring both sides of each wing are covered.
  4. Set your air fryer to 375°F and adjust the timer for 20 minutes. Arrange the wings inside the basket. If you think they might stick, you can lightly oil the basket.
  5. At the halfway mark, turn the wings over. Once 20 minutes have passed, use tongs to remove them from the fryer.
  6. While the wings are cooking, prepare the sauce by combining the ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring it to a boil, then let it simmer for 2 minutes, stirring to prevent sticking. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  7. After the wings are done, coat them thoroughly with the sauce. Serve immediately while they are still warm.
  8. Prepare and season the wings as previously described.
  9. Set your oven to 400°F.
  10. Lightly coat a baking dish with cooking oil, then arrange the seasoned wings in a single layer.
  11. Bake the wings for 35-40 minutes until they are fully cooked and the skin is crispy and golden brown.
  12. Prepare the sauce as previously described.
  13. Remove the baking dish and pour the hot honey sauce over the wings, ensuring they are completely covered. If the sauce is still thin, return the wings to the oven for another 5-10 minutes.

Notes

  • Dry chicken wings thoroughly with paper towels before oiling and seasoning.
  • For a crispier texture, coat wings evenly with the paprika, cornstarch, and baking powder mix.
  • Stir sauce continuously to prevent honey from sticking or burning.
