Description

A comforting and traditional homemade Thanksgiving stuffing made with stale bread, vegetables, and herbs, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread (preferably stale, cubed)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 to 3 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the diced onion and celery, sautéing until soft and fragrant.
  4. Incorporate minced garlic, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper, cooking for an additional minute.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread with the sautéed mixture.
  6. Slowly pour in the broth, stirring until the bread is moist yet not soggy.
  7. Fold in the chopped parsley if desired.
  8. Transfer the stuffing into a greased baking dish.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing different types of stale bread or adding toasted nuts or dried fruits.
