Description
A comforting and hearty casserole made with layers of seasoned ground beef, tender potatoes, and melted cheese, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4-5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup milk (optional)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice the potatoes to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Dice the onion and mince the garlic.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté onion and garlic until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and brown it, seasoning with Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Lightly grease a baking dish and layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
- Spread half of the cooked beef mixture over the potatoes and add half of the cheddar cheese on top.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes and beef, finishing with the last layer of cheddar cheese.
- Pour beef broth (and milk, if using) over the dish, cover with foil, and bake for 35-40 minutes.
- Remove the foil, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, and bake uncovered for another 10 minutes until golden brown.
- Let rest for 5 minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve.
Notes
For a creamier texture, consider adding milk to the dish. Experiment with different cheese varieties for added flavor.
