A beautiful homemade sourdough bread with a heart shape score, perfect for sharing and nourishing the soul.
Ingredients
- 500g bread flour
- 350ml water
- 100g sourdough starter
- 10g salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the bread flour and water until a shaggy dough forms.
- Add the sourdough starter and salt, and mix until well combined.
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- After resting, knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise for 4-6 hours at room temperature or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, gently deflate the dough and shape it into a round loaf.
- Let it rest for 30 minutes, then score the top in a heart shape with a sharp knife.
- Preheat your oven to 230°C (450°F) and place a Dutch oven inside to heat.
- Carefully transfer the dough into the hot Dutch oven, cover, and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
- Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
Ensure your sourdough starter is active and bubbly for the best results. Experiment with rising times for perfect texture.
