A comforting casserole featuring ground venison, fresh vegetables, and a crispy tater tot topping, perfect for family gatherings or weeknight meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground venison
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn)
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (or a healthy alternative)
  • 1 bag frozen tater tots
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cheddar cheese for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground venison over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened.
  3. Stir in the mixed vegetables and cook for another 5 minutes.
  4. Add the beef broth and cream of mushroom soup, mixing until combined. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a casserole dish and spread it evenly.
  6. Top with frozen tater tots in a single layer.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
  8. If desired, sprinkle cheddar cheese on top and bake for an additional 5 minutes until melted.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy your healthy twist on tater tot casserole!

Notes

For a healthier alternative, use low-fat cream of mushroom soup or consider homemade versions. You can customize the mixed vegetables based on your preference.
