Description
Delicious and guilt-free baked churro bites made with whole wheat flour and applesauce, rolled in cinnamon sugar.
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup milk (or non-dairy alternative)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
- Cinnamon sugar (for coating)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Mix the honey (or maple syrup), applesauce, milk, and melted coconut oil in another bowl.
- Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
- Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow them to cool slightly, then roll the churro bites in cinnamon sugar before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days. Can freeze for longer storage.
