Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (120ml) soy sauce, low sodium
- 1/4 cup (60ml) brown sugar
- 3 tbsp (45ml) hoisin sauce
- 2 tsp (10ml) chili sauce, more or less to preference
- 1 tsp (5ml) sesame oil
- 1 lb. (450g) ground beef, lean
- 1 tsp (5ml) garlic, minced
- 1 tsp (5ml) ginger, minced
- 9 oz (255g) ramen noodles, (3 packs) flavor packets discarded
- 20 oz (570g) stir fry veggie blend, frozen, about 3 cups
- 2 cups (470ml) cabbage, shredded, optional*
- 2 tbsp (30ml) green onions, sliced
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, chili sauce, and sesame oil until well blended. Keep it aside for later.
- Fill a medium pot with approximately 6 cups of water and bring it to a boil. While waiting, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the ground beef until it crumbles and loses its pink color. Remove any excess fat and return the skillet to medium-high heat.
- Add the minced garlic and ginger to the cooked beef, stirring until their aroma is released, about half a minute. Incorporate the frozen stir-fry vegetables and optional cabbage, cooking until they are hot. Simultaneously, place the ramen noodles into the boiling water, cooking them until soft, around 3 minutes.
- After draining the noodles, add them to the beef and vegetable mixture.
- Pour the sauce you prepared earlier over the mixture, stirring well to let it thicken and coat the beef and noodles evenly. Garnish with sliced green onions and savor the dish!
Notes
- Use low-sodium soy sauce and lean ground beef for a healthier dish.
- Adjust the chili sauce to your spice preference.
- Enhance the dish with bell peppers or mushrooms for added flavor.
