Description

Learn how to make delicious Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteak Sliders with this easy recipe. Perfect for a crowd or a simple weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • – 1 lb (454 g) ground beef
  • – 1 onion (chopped)
  • – 1 green pepper (chopped)
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) tomato paste
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) soy sauce
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) cornstarch
  • – 1 cup (240 ml) beef broth
  • – 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) each salt and pepper
  • – 12 count Hawaiian Rolls
  • – Cheddar or Swiss Cheese
  • – 4 tablespoons (60 ml) vegetable oil
  • – 1 clove garlic

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 350°F to preheat so it will be ready when the sliders are prepared.
  2. In a large pan on medium heat, add the ground beef, chopped onion, and chopped green pepper. Cook for about 2 to 4 minutes, using a spoon to break apart the meat, until the beef is browned and the veggies are soft.
  3. In a small bowl or measuring cup, blend together tomato paste, soy sauce, salt, pepper, cornstarch, and beef broth until smooth.
  4. Pour this sauce into the skillet with the beef mixture. Stir well, then let it cook for 3 to 5 minutes until it slightly thickens. Take off the heat.
  5. While the beef mixture is cooking, slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally with a serrated knife, keeping them connected if possible. Place the bottom halves into a half sheet pan or a 9×13 baking dish.
  6. Distribute the beef mixture evenly over the bottom part of the rolls. Add slices of Cheddar or Swiss cheese on top, then place the top halves of the rolls over them.
  7. In a small bowl, combine the vegetable oil with minced garlic. Brush or pour this mixture over the tops of the rolls.
  8. Loosely cover the pan with foil and place in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, until the cheese melts and the tops look lightly golden.
  9. Allow to cool for a short time before slicing. Serve warm and consider making more, as they tend to be eaten quickly!

Notes

  • Consider using Swiss cheese for a more flavorful twist.
  • Add a dash of hot sauce for an extra kick of flavor.
  • Brush the garlic-infused oil generously on the rolls for added taste.
