Ingredients
- – 1 lb (454 g) lean ground beef
- – 1 1/2 tsp (8 ml) coarse kosher salt
- – 1 1/2 tsp (8 ml) black pepper
- – 1 tsp (5 ml) garlic powder
- – 1 tsp (5 ml) Worcestershire sauce
- – 1 tsp (5 ml) smoked paprika
- – 3 medium potatoes
- – 120 ml beef broth or water
- – 4-6 eggs (optional)
- – Chopped fresh parsley or sliced green onion (optional)
- – Hot sauce (if desired)
- – Lettuce (optional)
Instructions
- In a large pan, cook the ground beef with the spices, using a wooden spoon to break it apart, for 8-10 minutes. Once the beef is fully browned, move it to a clean bowl.
- Meanwhile, cut the potatoes into 1/2-inch pieces.
- Using the same pan, place the potatoes and cook them for 5 minutes, stirring now and then. (TIP: Avoid excessive stirring to allow the potatoes to form a nice golden crust.)
- Return the beef to the pan with the potatoes and add the broth or water. Mix thoroughly and cook for around 8 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.
- If you want to include eggs, create 4-6 small indentations in the beef and potato mixture. Crack the eggs into the indentations, cover the pan, and cook for about 3 minutes, or until the eggs are done to your liking.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley or green onions. Serve on a bed of lettuce and add hot sauce if you wish.
