Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) ground beef (454 grams)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) shredded cheddar cheese (113 grams)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt (5 grams)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) black pepper (1 gram)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) paprika (2 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil (15 milliliters)
  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the pan and sauté until soft.
  4. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  5. Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until browned.
  6. Stir in salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  7. Remove the pan from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  8. Mix in the shredded cheddar cheese with the beef mixture.
  9. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a floured surface.
  10. Cut each sheet into equal squares or rectangles.
  11. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture onto each pastry square.
  12. Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg.
  13. Fold the pastry over to enclose the filling, forming a pocket.
  14. Press the edges with a fork to seal them.
  15. Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg.
  16. Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  17. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  18. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
