- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) black pepper (1 gram)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) paprika (2 grams)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil (15 milliliters)
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion to the pan and sauté until soft.
- Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until browned.
- Stir in salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- Remove the pan from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Mix in the shredded cheddar cheese with the beef mixture.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a floured surface.
- Cut each sheet into equal squares or rectangles.
- Place a spoonful of the beef mixture onto each pastry square.
- Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg.
- Fold the pastry over to enclose the filling, forming a pocket.
- Press the edges with a fork to seal them.
- Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg.
- Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
