Description

Deliciously sweet and tender grilled carrots glazed with honey and brown sugar, perfect for summer barbecues.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound carrots, sliced lengthwise if thick
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill for direct and indirect cooking, aiming for 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Toss the carrots in a bowl with extra virgin olive oil until evenly coated.
  3. Place the carrots on the grill over direct heat. Rotate them every few minutes to achieve a char on each side.
  4. If the carrots begin to burn, move them to indirect heat to finish cooking, about 12 to 15 minutes, until fork-tender.
  5. Just before removing the carrots from the grill, glaze them with a mix of butter, brown sugar, honey, salt, and any optional orange juice or cinnamon. Cook for one more minute.
  6. Remove the carrots from the grill and glaze them once more before serving immediately.

Notes

Select fresh, firm carrots for the best results. For a tangy twist, feel free to add orange juice to the glaze.
