Description

Discover how to make a delicious Green Chile Beef Casserole with this easy-to-follow recipe. Perfect for a comforting family meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) ground beef
  • 8 (6 inch) (15 cm) corn tortillas
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 pound (454 g) shredded cheese
  • 1 (4 ounce) (113 g) can green chile peppers, chopped
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) (305 g) can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 325°F (165°C) and ensure a medium-sized casserole dish is lightly oiled.
  2. In a medium frying pan, cook the beef over medium heat until it is uniformly browned; remove excess grease.
  3. Layer half of the corn tortillas at the bottom of the prepared dish, then add half of the diced onion, shredded cheese, cooked beef, and chopped green chiles on top.
  4. Repeat the layers with the rest of the tortillas, onion, half of the remaining cheese, cooked beef, and chiles.
  5. In a bowl, combine the condensed soup and milk, stirring until smooth, then pour this mixture over the assembled casserole.
  6. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Scatter the remaining cheese on top and continue baking for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted.

Notes

  • Try using lean ground beef or turkey for a healthier dish.
  • Experiment with pepper jack or cheddar cheese for a unique flavor.
  • Add hot sauce or diced jalapeños for an extra kick of heat.
