Description

A comforting green bean casserole featuring fresh green beans, creamy mushroom soup, and a crunchy onion topping, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh green beans, trimmed and blanched
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup French fried onions, divided
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for sautéing mushrooms, optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. If using mushrooms, sauté them in butter until tender.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add green beans and mushrooms (if using) to the mixture, tossing to ensure an even coat.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a casserole dish.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the casserole is hot and bubbly.
  7. Stir in half of the fried onions and top with the remaining onions.
  8. Return to the oven, baking for an additional 5-7 minutes until the onions are golden brown.

Notes

Serve hot and consider garnishing with fresh herbs like parsley for added color.
