Description

These Greek yogurt bagels offer a high-protein twist on a classic favorite, combining delightful flavors and textures with a simple preparation method.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt (thick consistency recommended)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Optional toppings: everything bagel seasoning, cinnamon, shredded cheese, garlic & herbs, or chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. If making cinnamon bagels, add 2 tsp cinnamon to the mixture.
  3. Stir in the Greek yogurt using a spatula until the dough forms.
  4. Knead with your hands until the dough is cohesive.
  5. Lightly flour a work surface, divide the dough into four equal portions, roll each into a ball, slightly flatten them, and create holes in the center.
  6. Brush each bagel with egg wash and sprinkle with your choice of toppings.
  7. Bake for 22-25 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  8. Let cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

Experiment with various toppings. Allow bagels to cool before slicing for the best texture.
