Description
A delicious twist combining two beloved comfort foods: Sloppy Joes and Philly cheesesteaks, featuring rich beef, melted provolone, and toasted brioche buns.
Ingredients
- 450g lean ground beef
- 30g butter
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 1 small green bell pepper, diced
- 230g brown mushrooms, minced or chopped
- 30g ketchup
- 15g Worcestershire sauce
- 3g Kosher salt
- 3g ground black pepper
- 8g cornstarch
- 240ml beef broth
- 225g provolone cheese, chopped or shredded
- 6 brioche hamburger buns, buttered and toasted
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the lean ground beef, browning without disturbing for one minute. Break it up once it starts to sear.
- Remove the beef from the pan once browned.
- Melt butter in the same pan, then add the diced onions, bell pepper, and mushrooms, cooking until golden.
- In a separate bowl, mix beef broth, cornstarch, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Add the sauce mixture to the vegetables and let simmer for 3-5 minutes to thicken.
- Return the browned beef to the pan and combine everything well.
- Stir in the provolone cheese until melted and creamy.
- Butter and toast the brioche buns until golden brown.
- Fill each bun generously with the beef and cheese mixture and serve immediately.
Notes
For added richness, consider using a bit more butter when sautéing the vegetables. Fresh herbs like thyme or parsley can elevate the dish.
