Description

Indulge in homemade McGriddle breakfast sandwiches featuring fluffy pancakes, savory sausage, and melty cheese, perfect for a comforting weekend breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1⅓ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 2½ tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 pound ground breakfast sausage
  • 8 slices cooked bacon (optional)
  • 4 slices cheese (American or cheddar)

Instructions

  1. Divide the ground sausage into 4 equal parts and form into patties.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the sausage patties for about 3 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked. Set aside.
  3. If using bacon, cook it in the same skillet until crispy, then set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Once melted, pour in ¼ of the egg mixture.
  6. Cook the eggs like an omelet for about 1-2 minutes, flip and cook for another minute. Set aside.
  7. Repeat with the remaining egg mixture to make 4 omelet squares.
  8. In a bowl, combine flour, milk, melted butter, baking powder, maple syrup, and salt to make pancake batter.
  9. Heat the skillet over medium heat, cook pancakes (3 tablespoons of batter each) for about 2 minutes on each side until golden.
  10. Assemble the sandwiches: start with a pancake, layer a slice of cheese, sausage patty, omelet square, optional bacon, and top with another pancake. Repeat for remaining sandwiches.
  11. Serve warm with syrup or enjoyed as is.

Notes

For variations, try different cheeses, or add fresh herbs to the egg mixture. Store leftovers wrapped in foil for later enjoyment.
