Ingredients
- 12 ounces (340 g) giant fusilli pasta
- 1 lb (454 g) lean ground beef
- 1 24 oz (680 g) jar pasta sauce
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) tomato paste
- 1 1/2 tsp (7.5 ml) Italian seasoning blend
- 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) salt
- 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) pepper
- 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) onion powder
- 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) garlic powder
- 8 oz (227 g) block low-moisture beef, shredded
- Chopped fresh basil leaves & grated Parmesan cheese, optional but highly recommended.
Instructions
- Set your oven to 350°F to preheat.
- Cook the pasta in boiling water but remove it from the heat 2-3 minutes before the al-dente time indicated on the package. This ensures it finishes cooking in the oven without becoming mushy.
- In a large frying pan, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Once done, combine it with the pasta sauce, tomato paste, and seasonings. Mix thoroughly and let it warm through.
- Combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top and bake without covering for 20-30 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted.
- Serve garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves. Enjoy your meal!
