Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups cold milk
- 1/4 cup melted butter (or canola oil)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 eggs (beaten)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix together the wet ingredients: milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and beaten eggs.
- Carefully combine the wet and dry mixtures, stirring until just blended. Lumps are fine.
- Preheat the waffle iron according to manufacturer instructions and grease lightly if necessary.
- Pour the batter onto the preheated waffle iron and close the lid.
- Cook for about 5 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Notes
For a healthier twist, substitute half the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour or oat flour.
