Ingredients
- Ground beef, 1 pound (454 g) (450 grams)
- Salt, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) (5 grams)
- Black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) (1.5 grams)
- Garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) (1.5 grams)
- Onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) (1.5 grams)
- Cheddar cheese, shredded, 1 cup (240 ml) (115 grams)
- Jalapeño peppers, fresh, 2, diced
- Cream cheese, 4 ounce (113 g) s (115 grams), softened
- Burger buns, 4
- Ranch dressing, 1/2 cup (120 ml) (120 milliliters)
- Lettuce leaves, 4
- Tomato, 1, sliced
- Cooking oil, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) (15 milliliters)
Instructions
- Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Divide the beef mixture into eight equal portions and form into balls.
- Lightly oil the skillet with cooking oil.
- Place four beef balls onto the hot skillet and smash them flat with a spatula.
- Cook the patties for 2-3 minutes until browned on one side.
- Flip the patties and immediately top each with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Cook for another 2 minutes until cheese melts and patties are cooked through.
- Remove patties from the skillet and repeat with the remaining beef balls.
- In a small bowl, combine diced jalapeño peppers with softened cream cheese.
- Spread the jalapeño cream cheese mixture on the bottom half of each burger bun.
- Place one cheese-topped patty on each prepared bun bottom.
- Add a second patty on top of each first patty to create double-deckers.
- Drizzle ranch dressing over the top patty.
- Add lettuce leaves and tomato slices on top of the patties.
- Cover with the top half of the burger buns.
- Serve the double-decker jalapeño popper smash burgers immediately.
