Description

A rich and decadent bread that combines the tangy flavor of sourdough with chocolate for an indulgent baking experience.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup active sourdough starter
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the active sourdough starter and warm water. Mix well.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together bread flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise at room temperature for 4-6 hours, or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  8. Let it rise for another hour.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  10. Allow cooling before slicing.

Notes

Use high-quality cocoa powder for the best flavor. Consider adding nuts or extra chocolate chunks for variations.
