Ingredients

  • 2 pounds (907 g) beef sirloin, cut into 2 inch strips
  • 3/4 teaspoon (4 ml) garlic powder, or to taste
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) vegetable oil
  • 1 cube beef bouillon
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) hot water
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) chopped onion
  • 2 large green bell peppers, roughly chopped
  • 1 (411 g) can stewed tomatoes, with liquid
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt

Instructions

  1. Collect all necessary items.
  2. Dust the beef sirloin pieces with garlic powder. Warm vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium heat and brown the beef pieces, approximately 5 minutes on each side. Move them to a crock pot.
  3. Combine the bouillon cube with hot water in a separate dish until it is fully dissolved, then stir in cornstarch until smooth.
  4. Add this mixture to the crock pot with the beef pieces. Mix in the onion, green peppers, stewed tomatoes, soy sauce, sugar, and salt.
  5. Put the lid on and cook on High for 3 to 4 hours, or on Low for 6 to 8 hours.

Notes

  • Marinate beef strips in soy sauce and garlic powder for richer flavor before cooking.
  • Use beef broth instead of bouillon cube and water for added depth to the dish.
  • Customize vegetables with mushrooms, carrots, or other favorites. Adjust seasoning to taste with soy sauce, sugar, or salt.
