Description

A delightful twist on traditional French toast, showcasing rich custard-soaked brioche with a caramelized sugar crust—perfect for special occasions or lazy Sundays.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of brioche bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter for greasing
  • Sugar for caramelizing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the brioche bread into thick slices and arrange them in the baking dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread slices, ensuring they are well soaked. Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour, or overnight for best results.
  5. Bake the soaked bread for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden and slightly puffed.
  6. Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Sprinkle sugar over the top and caramelize using a kitchen torch until golden and crispy.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy your delicious Crème Brûlée French Toast!

Notes

For best results, slice the brioche a day before to allow it to dry out slightly. Experiment with flavor variations by adding orange zest or chocolate chips.
