Description

Indulge in the luxurious flavors of crème brûlée French toast, combining the classic appeal of French toast with a creamy custard base and a crispy caramelized sugar topping.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of brioche or challah bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Sugar for caramelizing on top

Instructions

  1. Slice the brioche or challah bread into thick slices.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
  4. Arrange the soaked slices in a baking dish and pour any remaining egg mixture over the top. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Bake the soaked bread for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and custardy.
  7. After baking, sprinkle sugar on top of the toast and use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar until golden and crisp.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For best flavor, refrigerate overnight before baking. Experiment with adding fruits or spices to enhance the dish.
