Ingredients
- 1 loaf of brioche or challah bread
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Sugar for caramelizing on top
Instructions
- Slice the brioche or challah bread into thick slices.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
- Dip each slice of bread into the mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
- Arrange the soaked slices in a baking dish and pour any remaining egg mixture over the top. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the soaked bread for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and custardy.
- After baking, sprinkle sugar on top of the toast and use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar until golden and crisp.
