A delightful take on traditional lasagna, featuring creamy cottage cheese and ricotta layered with savory sausage and marinara sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground sausage
- 9 lasagna noodles
- 2 cups cottage cheese
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the ground sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until browned.
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package directions until al dente, then drain.
- Spread a layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
- Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the cottage cheese, half of the ricotta cheese, and a third of the mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat the layering process with another layer of sauce, noodles, cheeses, ending with a final layer of noodles topped with marinara sauce and the remaining mozzarella cheese.
- Sprinkle Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
To save time, prepare the sausage a day ahead and refrigerate. Experiment with different cheeses for additional flavor.
