Description

A delightful take on traditional lasagna, featuring creamy cottage cheese and ricotta layered with savory sausage and marinara sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground sausage
  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups cottage cheese
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the ground sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until browned.
  3. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package directions until al dente, then drain.
  4. Spread a layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  5. Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the cottage cheese, half of the ricotta cheese, and a third of the mozzarella cheese.
  6. Repeat the layering process with another layer of sauce, noodles, cheeses, ending with a final layer of noodles topped with marinara sauce and the remaining mozzarella cheese.
  7. Sprinkle Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper on top.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

To save time, prepare the sausage a day ahead and refrigerate. Experiment with different cheeses for additional flavor.
