Description
Delightful cornbread waffle bites with a crispy outside, fluffy inside, and a warm honey butter syrup.
Ingredients
- 1 cup cornbread mix
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- 1/4 cup cooked and crumbled bacon (optional)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cornbread mix, buttermilk, and egg until smooth.
- Fold in cheddar cheese and bacon, if desired.
- Preheat a mini waffle maker and lightly grease it.
- Add about 1 tablespoon of batter per section and cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Repeat with remaining batter.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, combine honey, butter, and maple syrup with a pinch of salt. Stir until smooth and remove from heat.
- Arrange waffle bites on a platter and drizzle with warm honey butter syrup. Serve immediately.
Notes
You can experiment with different types of cheese or add chopped jalapeños for additional flavor.
