A comforting dish of bell peppers filled with a hearty mixture of ground beef or turkey, rice, and tomato sauce, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
- 4 bell peppers
- 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until browned.
- Add the cooked rice, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; stir to combine.
- Stuff each bell pepper with the meat and rice mixture.
- Place the stuffed peppers upright in a baking dish.
- If desired, sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the peppers.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to brown the cheese.
- Serve warm.
Notes
For added flavor, consider incorporating diced onions or zucchini into the meat mixture. Leftover filling can be baked as a side dish.
