Ingredients

  • pounds (680 g) cubed beef steak
  • 120 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) seasoned salt (recommend Lawry’s seasoning salt)
  • 240 ml vegetable oil (enough to be about 1/2 inch deep in skillet)

Instructions

  1. Blot the steaks with a paper towel and season them with black pepper and seasoned salt. Coat each side with all-purpose flour.
  2. Warm the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  3. Carefully place the steaks into the hot oil one at a time, allowing the oil to return to temperature between additions.
  4. Fry for 5 to 7 minutes on one side until a golden crust forms, then flip them over. Cook for another 4 to 5 minutes, and then transfer them to paper towels to drain excess oil.
  5. Present with sauce prepared from the skillet drippings.
