Ingredients
- 1 cup sourdough discard
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix the sourdough discard, flour, baking powder, and salt until a dough forms.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and brush with melted butter.
- Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle evenly over the dough.
- Cut the dough into strips, twist each strip, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the twists with egg wash and sprinkle with any remaining cinnamon sugar.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden-brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider infusing the melted butter with spices. Allow the twists to cool slightly for the best texture.
