Description

Delightful cinnamon sugar twists made from sourdough discard, perfect for breakfast or a sweet snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the sourdough discard, flour, baking powder, and salt until a dough forms.
  3. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and brush with melted butter.
  4. Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle evenly over the dough.
  5. Cut the dough into strips, twist each strip, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Brush the twists with egg wash and sprinkle with any remaining cinnamon sugar.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden-brown.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider infusing the melted butter with spices. Allow the twists to cool slightly for the best texture.
