Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sourdough starter
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Combine sourdough starter, water, and sugar in a mixing bowl. Mix well.
- Gradually add flour, salt, and softened butter until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the dough and let it rise until doubled in size (about 4-6 hours).
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and fold it into layers like a croissant.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips in between the layers and fold again.
- Shape into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Let rise for another 1-2 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the top with beaten egg.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
