Ingredients
- 1 lb (454 g) lean ground beef
- 1/3 cup (80 ml) onion, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) seasoning salt
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) salt
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) hot sauce
- 2 cups (200 g) shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1 can (4 oz / 113 g) whole green chiles
- 6 eggs
- 2 cups (480 ml) milk
- 1/3 cup (40 g) flour
Instructions
- Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the ground beef along with the chopped onion in a frying pan until browned, then remove excess fat.
- Incorporate the spices into the meat mixture and put it aside.
- Cut the green chilies into pieces roughly 1 ½ inches in size.
- Layer the chili pieces in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded Cheddar over the chilies and add all the cooked beef on top.
- Add another layer of chilies and cover with the remaining cheese.
- Combine the eggs, milk, and flour in a bowl, stirring until well mixed.
- Evenly pour the egg mixture over the layered dish and sprinkle with the last of the cheese.
- Bake the dish for 45-60 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
- Serve with salsa and sour cream if you like.
