Description

A comforting dish of crispy chicken-fried venison steak that brings back childhood memories, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs venison steak
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Mix flour and seasonings together in a bowl.
  2. Whisk eggs and milk together in a separate bowl.
  3. Pound steaks with a meat mallet until they reach half of their original thickness.
  4. Heat oil to 350-375 degrees in a heavy frying pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Dip each steak into the flour mixture, then into the egg mix, and back into the flour mix for a second coating.
  6. Carefully place each steak into the hot oil, watching for splatter.
  7. Fry each side for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain. Serve hot.

Notes

Let the coated steaks sit for a few minutes before frying for a crunchier coating. Avoid overcrowding the pan while frying.
