A comforting dish of crispy chicken-fried venison steak that brings back childhood memories, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs venison steak
- ½ cup flour
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Mix flour and seasonings together in a bowl.
- Whisk eggs and milk together in a separate bowl.
- Pound steaks with a meat mallet until they reach half of their original thickness.
- Heat oil to 350-375 degrees in a heavy frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Dip each steak into the flour mixture, then into the egg mix, and back into the flour mix for a second coating.
- Carefully place each steak into the hot oil, watching for splatter.
- Fry each side for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain. Serve hot.
Notes
Let the coated steaks sit for a few minutes before frying for a crunchier coating. Avoid overcrowding the pan while frying.
