Description
A delightful appetizer made with gooey mozzarella and fresh herbs, shaped like a Christmas tree, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
- 13 ounces of canned refrigerator pizza dough
- Parchment paper for lining the baking sheet
- 6-7 mozzarella cheese sticks
- 1 large egg (+ 1 tablespoon of water for egg wash)
- 3 tablespoons of butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup of grated parmesan cheese (divided)
- 1 tablespoon of fresh parsley (finely chopped)
- 1/2 tablespoon of fresh rosemary (finely chopped)
- 1/2 tablespoon of fresh basil (finely chopped)
- 1 clove of garlic (grated)
- 1 jar of marinara and/or pesto for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut the pizza dough into approximately 30 equal squares and cut the mozzarella cheese sticks into bite-sized pieces.
- In each square of dough, place a piece of mozzarella, then roll the dough into a ball, sealing the edges well.
- Place the cheese-filled dough balls seam side down on the baking sheet, ensuring they touch each other to create a tree shape.
- In a small bowl, blend the egg with one tablespoon of water to create the egg wash, then brush it over each roll.
- Bake for 16 to 18 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the rolls bake, melt the butter and mix with half of the grated parmesan, grated garlic, and chopped herbs.
- Brush the mixture over the baked rolls and sprinkle the remaining parmesan cheese on top. Serve with marinara and/or pesto for dipping.
Notes
For best flavor, use fresh herbs and serve immediately after baking.
