Ingredients
- 2 slices beef bacon (60g) chopped
- 1 pound Brussels sprouts (450g) sliced in half
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (60ml)
- 1/3 cup grated vegetarian cheese (35g)
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic (15g)
- 1/2 cup shredded gruyere cheese (50g)
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Set your oven to a temperature of 375°F.
- In a large skillet suitable for oven use, cook the bacon pieces until they are crispy, then take them out and place them on a plate lined with a paper towel.
- Place the halved Brussels sprouts in the skillet with the cut side facing down, letting them cook in the bacon fat without moving them for 4-5 minutes. Turn them over when they are golden brown, cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, then remove them from the skillet.
- Clean the skillet and pour in the heavy cream, add the garlic, and mix in the vegetarian cheese. Allow this mixture to simmer over medium-low heat for a few minutes until it starts bubbling, stirring frequently to prevent the cheese from sticking to the skillet. Once a thick sauce forms, take it off the heat.
- Arrange the Brussels sprouts cut side down in the skillet again, cover them with the shredded gruyere cheese, and sprinkle on half of the bacon.
- Place the skillet in the oven and bake for 15 minutes at 375°F. Finally, add the remaining bacon, season with salt and pepper according to your taste, and serve right away.
Notes
- For a more intense flavor, try using smoked gruyere cheese instead of regular gruyere.
- Enhance the texture by sprinkling toasted breadcrumbs on top before serving.
- Experiment with various vegetarian cheeses to discover your preferred flavor combination.
