Description

Learn how to make a delicious Cheeseburger Tater Tot Casserole that will impress your family and friends. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions!

Ingredients

  • 1 large onion, chopped into 2.5 cm pieces
  • vegetable oil cooking spray
  • 2 pounds (900 g) ground beef
  • 2 cans (305 g each) condensed mushroom soup
  • 3 cups (340 g) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 package (900 g) frozen bite-size potato nuggets

Instructions

  1. Place the chopped onion in a microwave-safe container, submerge it in water, and microwave on high for 7 to 8 minutes until softened. Drain the water afterward.
  2. Set your oven to a temperature of 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with vegetable oil spray.
  3. In a large nonstick pan, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until it turns brown and crumbles, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove excess grease and discard it.
  4. Move the cooked beef into the prepared baking dish, then distribute the onion pieces evenly on top. Spread the condensed mushroom soup over the onions, and sprinkle the shredded Cheddar cheese uniformly over the soup. Arrange the frozen potato nuggets in rows on top of the cheese layer.
  5. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes. Lightly spray the potato nuggets with cooking spray, then continue baking until they are thoroughly cooked and crispy, approximately 10 more minutes.

Notes

  • Drain excess grease after cooking ground beef to prevent the casserole from being too oily.
  • Enhance flavor by adding garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika to the ground beef while cooking.
  • Opt for lean ground beef or ground turkey for a healthier twist, rather than regular ground beef.
