Description
Delicious fluffy biscuits filled with rich cheese and hearty sausage, perfect for any meal or snack.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
- 1 pound breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
- ½ cup milk (or buttermilk for added richness)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Add the cold butter cubes to the dry ingredients and cut the butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs with pea-sized pieces.
- Stir in the shredded cheese and crumbled sausage until evenly distributed.
- Pour in the milk and stir gently until the dough just comes together. Avoid overmixing.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle, then use a biscuit cutter to cut into rounds.
- Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one, and bake for 12-15 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
For added richness, use buttermilk instead of regular milk. Letting the dough rest for five minutes enhances texture.
