Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef (454 g)
  • 1/2 cup beef strips, chopped (65 g)
  • 1 (15 ounce (425 g)) can beef and beans
  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained (425 g)
  • 1 (15 ounce) can butter beans (425 g)
  • 1 (15 ounce) can lima beans, drained (425 g)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar (200 g)
  • 1 cup chopped onion (150 g)
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery (75 g)
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce (120 ml)
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar (45 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) mustard powder


Instructions

  1. Collect all necessary items. Set the oven to warm up to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Brown the lean beef and chopped beef strips in a big, deep pan over medium-high heat until they are uniformly cooked. Remove excess fat and move the meat to a 4-quart baking dish.
  3. Combine the beef and beans, kidney beans, butter beans, and drained lima beans with the brown sugar, chopped onion, celery, tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar, and mustard powder in the baking dish. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Cover the dish and place it in the preheated oven, baking until the mixture is bubbling and heated all the way through, roughly 1 hour.
