Description

Flavorful and crispy Cajun spiced chicken wings that are perfect for game nights and dinner parties.

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds split chicken wings
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 3 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 tablespoons butter (or vegan butter, or ghee for Paleo/Whole30)
  • ¼ cup Crystal’s hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon coconut aminos (or soy sauce)
  • Freshly chopped parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  2. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels and place in a large bowl.
  3. Add the baking powder, kosher salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, oregano, cayenne pepper, and thyme to the bowl and toss the wings until well coated.
  4. Place the wings in a single layer on a wire rack set over the baking sheet, skin side up.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes, then flip wings over and bake for another 20 minutes.
  6. Flip them back skin side up and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes until crispy and cooked through.
  7. While wings bake, heat the butter in a saucepan and add Crystal’s hot sauce and coconut aminos. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
  8. Transfer the cooked wings to a large bowl, pour the sauce over, and toss gently to coat.
  9. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

Pat wings dry to ensure maximum crispiness. Experiment with spice levels based on your preference.
