Ingredients
- 2 cup (480 ml) s broccoli florets (about 300 grams)
- 2 tablespoon s olive oil (30 ml)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup (240 ml) shredded cheddar cheese (about 100 grams)
- 1 cup milk (240 ml)
- 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s all-purpose flour (15 grams)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt (5 grams)
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) black pepper (1 gram)
- 2 cup (480 ml) s cooked rice (about 400 grams)
- 1 pound (454 g) chicken wings (about 450 grams)
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) all-purpose flour for coating (60 grams)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) paprika (5 grams)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic powder (5 grams)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) onion powder (5 grams)
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) cayenne pepper (1 gram)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Steam the broccoli florets until tender, about 5 minutes. Set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour, cooking for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in 1 cup of milk, cooking until the mixture thickens.
- Add 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, stirring until melted.
- Season the sauce with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper.
- Combine the cooked broccoli, cheese sauce, and 2 cups of cooked rice in a large mixing bowl.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
- Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
- Meanwhile, in a large bowl, mix 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper.
- Coat the chicken wings in the seasoned flour mixture.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the coated chicken wings in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.
- Drain the fried chicken wings on paper towels.
- Serve the broccoli and cheese casserole hot with the fried chicken wings on the side.
