Description

A tender and juicy braised beef chuck roast, perfect for family gatherings and special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 3-4 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2-3 carrots, chopped
  • 2-3 celery stalks, chopped
  • Fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Season the beef chuck roast with salt and pepper.
  3. In a large Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat and brown the roast on all sides.
  4. Remove the roast and set aside.
  5. In the same pot, add onion and garlic, and sauté until softened.
  6. Stir in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping the bottom of the pot.
  7. Add the carrots and celery, then place the roast back into the pot.
  8. Cover the pot and transfer it to the oven.
  9. Braise for 3-4 hours, or until the beef is tender and shreds easily with a fork.
  10. Serve with mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.

Notes

Allow the roast to come to room temperature before seasoning and searing for better results. Personalize the broth with herbs for added depth.
