Description

Discover the ultimate recipe for the best homemade salsa! Learn how to make this delicious and easy salsa from scratch that will elevate any dish. Perfect for all your cooking needs.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) white onion, rinsed, dried, and roughly chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped
  • 1 pound (450 g) Roma or other small tomatoes, cut into large chunks
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped (seeds removed, optional)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh cilantro
  • Juice and zest of 1 lime
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) ground cumin
  • Pinch sugar

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, place the onion and garlic. Blend until finely chopped.
  2. Introduce the tomatoes, red bell pepper, cilantro, lime juice, lime zest, salt, cumin, and sugar. Blend until the mixture is well integrated but retains some chunks.
  3. The thickness of the salsa may differ based on the moisture of the tomatoes. If it appears overly liquid, strain half of it to eliminate some excess fluid. Mix the strained, chunky portion with the unstrained salsa. Should you desire a thicker texture, continue straining to achieve your preferred consistency.

Notes

  • Consider enhancing the flavor by roasting the tomatoes and red bell pepper before blending.
  • Adjust salt and sugar levels to taste, as the sweetness and saltiness of tomatoes can vary.
  • For a smoky touch, add smoked paprika or chipotle powder to the salsa.
