Description

A warm and comforting cabbage soup that’s perfect for chilly evenings, featuring tender cabbage, vibrant tomatoes, and savory ground beef.

Ingredients

  • 1 large cabbage, chopped
  • 2 small onions, diced
  • 2 cans of stewed tomatoes
  • 1 pouch Lipton Onion Soup Mix (any flavor)
  • 1 large celery stalk, chopped very small
  • 1-2 pounds ground beef
  • Optional spices: salt, pepper, garlic powder, etc.

Instructions

  1. Fill a large saucepan halfway with water and bring it to a boil.
  2. Add the chopped cabbage, diced onions, chopped celery, and stewed tomatoes to the pot.
  3. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook until the vegetables are tender.
  4. In a separate skillet over medium heat, prepare the ground beef, breaking it up while cooking and draining any excess fat.
  5. Stir the Lipton Onion Soup Mix into the pot along with any desired spices.
  6. Add the drained, cooked ground beef to the vegetable mixture in the pot.
  7. Allow it to simmer for a few more minutes to meld the flavors together.
  8. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  9. Ladle the soup into bowls and serve hot.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, consider adding minced garlic while sautéing the onions and celery. Leftovers are even better the next day.
