A warm and comforting cabbage soup that’s perfect for chilly evenings, featuring tender cabbage, vibrant tomatoes, and savory ground beef.
Ingredients
- 1 large cabbage, chopped
- 2 small onions, diced
- 2 cans of stewed tomatoes
- 1 pouch Lipton Onion Soup Mix (any flavor)
- 1 large celery stalk, chopped very small
- 1-2 pounds ground beef
- Optional spices: salt, pepper, garlic powder, etc.
Instructions
- Fill a large saucepan halfway with water and bring it to a boil.
- Add the chopped cabbage, diced onions, chopped celery, and stewed tomatoes to the pot.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook until the vegetables are tender.
- In a separate skillet over medium heat, prepare the ground beef, breaking it up while cooking and draining any excess fat.
- Stir the Lipton Onion Soup Mix into the pot along with any desired spices.
- Add the drained, cooked ground beef to the vegetable mixture in the pot.
- Allow it to simmer for a few more minutes to meld the flavors together.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
- Ladle the soup into bowls and serve hot.
Notes
For enhanced flavor, consider adding minced garlic while sautéing the onions and celery. Leftovers are even better the next day.
