Description

A comforting dessert made from stale bread, milk, and eggs, drizzled with rich vanilla sauce, evoking nostalgia and warmth.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups stale bread, torn into pieces
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup sugar (for vanilla sauce)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (for vanilla sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract (for vanilla sauce)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Tear the stale bread into pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, and cinnamon, then pour this mixture over the bread.
  4. Bake for about 30-40 minutes, until set and golden.
  5. For the vanilla sauce, combine sugar, cream, and vanilla in a saucepan and simmer until thickened.
  6. Serve the bread pudding warm with the vanilla sauce drizzled on top.

Notes

For a richer flavor, allow the bread to sit overnight to dry out. You can also experiment with adding raisins, nuts, or chocolate chips for variety.
