Ingredients
- 1 lb (454 g) lean ground beef
- 1/3 cup (80 ml) onion chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) seasoning salt
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) salt
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) hot sauce
- 2 cups (226 g) shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 4 oz can (113 g) whole green chiles
- 6 eggs
- 2 cups (480 ml) of milk
- 1/3 cup (40 g) flour
Instructions
- Set your oven to a temperature of 350°F (175°C) to preheat.
- In a frying pan, cook the lean ground beef and chopped onion until browned, then remove any excess fat.
- Incorporate the garlic powder, seasoning salt, salt, pepper, and hot sauce into the cooked meat, then set it aside.
- Cut the whole green chiles into squares approximately 1 ½ inches in size.
- Place the chile pieces evenly across the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the chiles, followed by the entire amount of seasoned ground beef.
- Add another layer of chile squares, then cover with the remaining cheddar cheese.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and flour until the mixture is smooth.
- Evenly pour the egg mixture over the contents of the baking dish, then sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 60 minutes, until the edges of the dish are golden brown.
- If desired, serve the dish with salsa and sour cream on the side.
