Description

A comforting BBQ cheddar meatloaf that combines ground beef and cheddar cheese, topped with BBQ sauce for a flavor-packed family favorite.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • ¼ cup BBQ sauce (for mixing, plus extra for topping)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, finely diced onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, shredded cheddar cheese, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, milk, and ¼ cup of BBQ sauce.
  3. Season the mixture with salt and pepper and mix until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
  4. Transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf.
  5. Spread a generous layer of the remaining BBQ sauce over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Bake for 40-60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70-71°C).
  7. Allow the meatloaf to rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a healthier option, use leaner ground beef but avoid going too lean. Experiment with BBQ sauce brands for different flavor profiles.
