A comforting BBQ cheddar meatloaf that combines ground beef and cheddar cheese, topped with BBQ sauce for a flavor-packed family favorite.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- ¼ cup BBQ sauce (for mixing, plus extra for topping)
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg (beaten)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ¼ cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, finely diced onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, shredded cheddar cheese, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, milk, and ¼ cup of BBQ sauce.
- Season the mixture with salt and pepper and mix until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
- Transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf.
- Spread a generous layer of the remaining BBQ sauce over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake for 40-60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70-71°C).
- Allow the meatloaf to rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a healthier option, use leaner ground beef but avoid going too lean. Experiment with BBQ sauce brands for different flavor profiles.
